Bring Some Passion To Your Big Day With Red Wedding Decorations

roses used for red wedding decorationsRed is, of course, the color of love and of passion. So using red as a main feature of your wedding color palette is a no-brainer. Red wedding decorations add some zip, some zest and some sultry, sexy fun to your wedding day, and used properly red can energize you and your guests and keep the party going long into the night. Here are some ideas for using red wedding decorations.

Red Roses

First, let’s get the obvious out of the way…roses. Red roses are the symbol of passionate, romantic love. Make your bouquet from red roses, and have your groom and his men wear a red rose on their lapel.

You can use red roses to decorate pillars, buffet tables, in centerpieces or on pews. You could also use them on your cake. In the photo above you can see how I placed them in-between the tiers of this stunning wedding cake, it really was a show stopper. GivingĀ  your guests cones of red rose petals, like I had at my wedding, to throw instead or confetti or rice is great for the photo’s. One of my favourite wedding photo’s is of the two of us standing under a sky of falling red rose petals.

You can see here how I have used the red roses and gerberas together with the deep red leucadendron and bright red hypericum berries.

This made a stunning winter wedding bouquet for a January wedding.

Of course, you don’t have to use roses. Ranunculus, tulips, freesias and anthuriums are just a few of the other red flowers you can carry in your bouquet and adorn your ceremony and reception areas with. For striking centerpieces, try heliconia, gladioli and amaryllis.

Reception Decorations

Because red tablecloths can look a little Christmasy, it’s a better idea to use white tablecloths and adorn them with red linen napkins. You can cover your chairs with white, and add a striking red organza ribbon just like I’ve done in the photo here. These chairs had the perfect hole at the top making securing the bow easy.

Red wedding decorations should also make their way into the centerpieces for the tables. This can be as simple as red candles, or you can use red glass vases overflowing with beautiful red and white flowers. Or, have some fun and fill pretty glass bowls with red cinnamon hearts and gum-balls, or use metallic red heart balloons tied with red or white ribbon.

Food Delights

And don’t forget about the food! If red is your theme, you can easily incorporate it into your menu. Serve items like smoked salmon or red snapper, red grapes, red wine, chocolate covered strawberries, raspberries and cream…the choices are endless.

For a wedding filled with passion and sizzle, red wedding decorations are your solution. And if you really want to pull out all the stops? Enter your reception on a red carpet, and feel like a real superstar on your wedding day!
