Although spring and summer weddings are wildly popular, the cooler weather and colors of fall is a perfect choice for a wedding. Here are some ideas for fall wedding decorations.

Church and Ceremony Decorations

The church is the place the bride should think of decorating first. Transform pews, altar and the entranceway into a fall wonderland for your walk down the aisle.

Large bows fastened to the aisle-side of the pews in colors of burnt orange, gold, burgundy or plum are beautiful natural colors of fall.

Incorporate the colors of fall into decorative wreaths of leaves in a variety of hues or provide fall flowers such as chrysanthemums or sunflowers in wreath form or in small bouquets and fasten to the side of the pews.

Decorate the church entranceway with a clear a plastic runner with fall leaves, flowers, or a mix of both underneath the runner for a unique entrance. The leaves and flowers will show through without being disturbed by friends and family walking into the church. Place two pots of fall flowers, such as chrysanthemums at each side of the door.

Reception Decorations

For the reception, the fall wedding decorations can be everywhere, from the tablecloths, wedding favors, centerpieces, and chairs.

A cream tablecloth with cream chair coverings with an attached bow of burnt orange or burgundy, or gold gives an understated, yet elegant atmosphere to the reception.

Place a few river rocks, decorative marbles, or acrylic gemstones into a medium or large clear vase. Fill with water and place a floating candle on top. Place the vase on a reflective surface for a soft glow for the wedding centerpiece.

Placing a cinnamon or other scented candle placed in a wreath of branches, small pumpkins, or fall flowers as a centerpiece provides a wonderful festive scent.

A few votive candles in a decorative ceramic or tin holder and placed at each place setting will make your guests feel special on your special day.

When thinking of fall wedding decorations, think of what you see in nature during the fall season for your choice of colors.
