Decorating for your wedding often involves using flowers, and that can make a huge dent in any bride’s budget. But floral decorating doesn’t have to cost a fortune to look beautiful. In fact, simplicity and homemade decorations are one of the most popular trends in weddings. It is easy to create inexpensive wedding decorations with flowers that don’t look ‘cheap’. Here are a few ideas that you can make yourself.
Seasonal Flowers
The most inexpensive wedding decorations, as far as flowers are concerned, are ones that are in season. You can save a ton of money just by choosing flowers that are local to your region and that are blooming and ready in the season of your wedding, rather than choosing ones that are not and have to be imported from elsewhere.
All flowers are beautiful, so don’t feel that you have to choose the most exotic flowers to make a stylistic impact. A simple tulip, displayed in a tall, slim vase, looks very elegant. You could a range of different flowers but all of the same color theme to give your centerpieces interest and texture.
Branches of lavender, sitting in simple white vases, not only look gorgeous in the springtime, but they smell wonderful too…and you may even be lucky enough to be able to pick them from your garden.
Twigs and Branches
I’ve just created a new beautiful centerpiece based around twisted hazel branches, which I place in a tall vase and adorn with beautiful stems of phalaenopsis orchids. I can hear you saying that sounds expensive and it can be, but wait a minute you could do a similar idea. Why not fill tall vases full of branches of pink or white blossom to create that beautiful spring like look.
Inexpensive Vases and Containers
Whatever flowers you select, you need something to put them in…and this doesn’t have to break the bank either! As long as your vases are the same color, they don’t have to be the same exact shape. You can hit the discount store and buy several types of clear, glass vases, glasses, jars, even pitchers and use them to hold your arrangements. A humble mason jar gets a big boost with the addition of a simple ribbon, and a bunch of colorful wildflowers.
You can also use flowers in other, creative ways. Find some inexpensive, shallow dishes and float flower heads or petals on top of water. You can even add a few floating candles, and have a beautiful, elegant centerpiece.
I love these new vases they are just so simple to use but will look so effective. Just simply add one statement flower like a rose or gerbera into each vases and run them along a top table, place them on the bar or even on the church windowsills. It really couldn’t be easier.
Dried Flowers Add Fragrance
Dried flowers also make pretty and inexpensive wedding decorations. A bowl of pot pourri and some candles sets an elegant table. In the fall or winter, mix dried flowers with colorful dried fruit and nuts in their shells and display them in a pretty bowl. Sachets of dried lavender make fragrant place markers, and you can even sprinkle the dried flower buds over the top of the table.
Inexpensive wedding decorations with flowers are easier to create than you may think. These are just a few simple ideas, but with a little creativity you’ll be able to dream up many, many more, and design a wedding day that looks as elegant and beautiful as you always dreamed it would be.
