I’m going to show you just how simple it is to make this stunning hand-tied posy bouquet; it really is one of the easiest diy bridal bouquet projects that you can quickly master.
I love anemones as they are so colorful and when arranged together look absolutely stunning. I think the centres of this delicate flower look like velvet pompoms. They are the deepest darkest black color that contrast so well with the bright petal colors.
Anemones are in season during the winter and spring and come in red, white with a hint of pink, various shades of purple and vibrant red. They are not that expensive and are certainly cheaper than roses.
I chose to mix up all the colors for this bouquet, as I love the vibrancy of all the colors together. They work equally well when you just use one color. If you are getting married in the summer (when anemones are out of season) you could use a flower like gerberas instead, but you won’t need as many stems, 20 would make a large bouquet.
Let’s Get Making This Lovely DIY Bridal Bouquet

The Materials You Need Are:
1 bunch approx 50 stems of anemones
A roll of floristry ‘Para film’ stem tape
A coordinating satin ribbon
3 pearl-headed pins
A pair of scissors |
 |
Step 1
Take each stem and carefully arrange the stems on top of each other, lining up the flower heads next to each other. The stems will start to spiral as the bouquet takes shape.
You can move the bouquet around in your other hand as you add each stem.
You will soon start to create a wonderful domed shape. |
 |
Step 2
When you are happy that your bouquet is the right size you will need to secure the stems together. Take a strip of the floristry ‘Para film’ tape and wrap it around the stems going down for approximately 2 inches. |
 |
Step 3
Take hold of the bouquet firmly in your hand and cut the stems, approximately 6 inches from where your tape started. If you are worried about cutting it too short trim the stems back gradually until you have the handle length you are happy with. |
 |
Step 4
Take your coordinating satin ribbon and wrap it all the way down over the tape and back up again. You should have at least 3 inches of ribbon as a handle with the stems just sticking out the bottom. You can completely cover the stems in ribbon if you wish, but just remember you can’t then put it in water. |
 |
Step 5
Use the pearl-headed pins to secure the ribbon in place. |
 |
Step 6
There you are – a stunning DIY bridal bouquet. The great thing about making a hand tied posy like this is you can now rest your bouquet in a low vase with a small amount of water in the bottom until you need it. |
